Pastor Phil McBroom is a longtime resident of the North Pole area and was called to the ministry when he was 16 years old.
Pastor McBroom began preparation and training for preaching and teaching while still in his teens, married his High School sweetheart, and begin to serve as a full time staff member at a local Baptist church in North Pole.
During this time, he developed and led a successful campus ministry at UAF, a Police Chaplain ministry at Fairbanks Police Department, and developed several other evangelistic ministries throughout the Fairbanks and North Pole area.
Phil McBroom earned Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity degrees from Great Plains Baptist College and Divinity School in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.
Pastor McBroom continued to serve on staff for 6 1/2 years before God led him into a full time ministry as an Army Chaplain.
Pastor McBroom served as chaplain in the continental US, Afghanistan, & Korea for approximately 5 years. While in Korea he focused on discipleship and leadership ministries.
In 2015 the Lord led the entire McBroom family back to North Pole, Alaska to serve in a new church. True North Baptist Church was planted in 2016 under the sending authority of Badger Road Baptist Church.
The Lord has greatly blessed the McBroom family with five children. Both Phil & Jennifer are tremendously honored for the opportunity to devote their lives in service to the Lord Jesus Christ through True North Baptist Church.
